‘A Day In Your Life’

Photography Workshops

Alison Jackson heads photography workshops with a team of top postgraduate professionals across RBKC in youth centres, community centres, trusts, and schools that inspire creativity in photography.  Our aim is that the workshop attendees submit their photographs to the competition, but also to encourage and teach excellence in photographic skills; covering all approaches including football and sports with Chelsea FC, fashion with Stella Mccarney´s latest collection amongst other fashion houses (North Face, Nike, Adidas), documentary, portraits, action, photojournalism, Fine Art, and advertising, amongst others and discussing various platforms such as NFTs, social media, and traditional outlets.  We are beginning a program offering creative career mentorships and apprenticeships.

Our current summer programme is hosted with Earl’s Court Youth Centre, Fit for Life Youth, Lancaster Youth Centre, The Dalgarno Trust, Chelsea Youth Hub at the World’s End Estate, London Sports, Solidarity, Holland Park School, Chelsea Academy, London Academy, Harrow Club, Chakra Academy and Big Local, amongst others. We aim to scale up with further creative workshops across the whole of RBKC and Westminster.

'Young Artists' photography workshop is the perfect opportunity to practice and develop young people's skills as a photographer and other creative skills. Under the supervision of a knowledgeable photography professional and with the support of peers, participants will develop the skills, creativity and proficiency required to create striking images.

Alison Jackson as the workshop leader will ensure that every participant gets the level of support they need and will be on hand to offer help as needed. The workshops are held for ages 5-24 years, for kids with varying learning skills, technological abilities and English-speaking levels. We have trainers to help on a one-to-one basis if necessary.

For many, it is the first time they have held a professional camera. We take and translate onto the big professional camera all the visual articulation and compositional skills they have learned from their phones.

We provide around 24 cameras and varying lenses per workshop. This culminates annually with the  ‘Young Artists’ photography competition, and offers future education and excellent exhibition exposure, creative incentives and prizes like cameras, and exclusive short courses at leading universities and colleges, including The University of Arts, London; The Royal College of Art and Heatherley’s College of Art, amongst others.

We'd like to especially express our gratitude to the youth club workers: Abdi from ECYC, Boutayna from Dalgarno Trust, Chris from FFLY & Lancaster, Bianca from Chelsea Youth Club, Miriam from Solidarity and Ulik from London Sports for their dedication and ongoing support to the 'Young Artists' Project. Thank You!
